Alan Tiano, GPC is the President of the
Tiano Consulting Group, Inc. He has 12 years of Formerly the Chief Operating Officer of Hispanic Unity of Florida, he managed 18 programs totaling 2.8 million dollars per year and closely supervised a staff of 50 professionals. He created and obtained funding for numerous new programs that served the Hispanic and Immigrant Populations of Broward County. Leaving after a year and a half to open a private practice, Hispanic Unity of Florida presently remains one of his largest clients. Prior to working for Hispanic Unity he was the Dep. Executive Director of the Wansiki Foundation Clinic, which served hundreds of people living with HIV/AIDS. He created, funded and managed medical services, outreach/education, alternative therapies, counseling and case management programs during his five years at the clinic. Alan Tiano has been a long time activist for People Living With AIDS, Women’s Rights, Gay Rights, and the lives of Immigrants and Refugees. He is the founder of the South Florida Gay and Lesbian Domestic Violence Coalition and offers his time, pro-bono, to this important issue. Alan Tiano is a graduate of University of Maryland and an active member of The American Association of Grantwriting Professionals, and is licensed by the State of Florida as a Professional Fundraising Consultant. Alan is a Nationally Certified Grant Professional.
Lisa Therese Fowler, M.S., GPC has a Master of
Criminal Justice from Florida International University in Miami, where
she graduated cum laude.
Although she began her career with the United States Department of Justice, she has spent the past twenty (20) years in the field of social services, in positions ranging from front line case manager to Vice-President of Operations, and for seven (7) years, was a foster parent to HIV-positive infants and toddlers. Lisa was employed by the Florida Department of Children and Families in Miami, Tallahassee, and Fort Lauderdale for eight (8) years, and was appointed to the Secretary's Child Protection Task Force. Lisa is the proud mother of four children, including two adopted children, now teenagers, and is currently a Professor of Legal Studies at Keiser University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A native New Yorker, Lisa is fully bilingual (Spanish) and spends much of her leisure time traveling to the Caribbean, Europe, and northern Africa. Her favorite quote is Thoreau's, "Go confidently into the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have always imagined."
Shelia McCann,
M.Ed, M.S., GPC, has a Master of
Education in Counseling (Tufts University) and a Master of Science in
Management (MIT-Sloan School of Management).
Her corporate experience includes university administration, manufacturing, financial services, and publishing. She specializes in process re-engineering, team development and information technology implementations. Shelia is no stranger to Washington, D.C. After a thirty year career in the corporate world, Sheila accepted an appointment as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Treasury Department during the Clinton Administration. Her social services experience includes managing emergency shelters for abused women and children, establishing community advocacy programs, and grants management. Shelia is also experienced in working with media, developing media plans, and marketing materials. She is an active volunteer with the Broward County Red Cross and Women In Distress of Broward County, Inc .and is currently serving a second term on the Board of Trustees of Clark University (Worcester, MA). Shelia has committed to using her experience and skills to create opportunities for all people to have a life they love, experience fulfillment and achieve excellence in what they choose to do.
Anita Davis-DeFoe, Ph.D. holds a
Doctor of Philosophy in Organization Development and Human Resources
Management (Columbia Pacific University) and a
Masters in Administration focused on A quality management and leadership development expert, she has provided grant writing, grant management, programmatic and operational technical assistance to organizations across the United States, the Caribbean and Africa. Anita has extensive family in the Washington, D.C. area and has experienced first hand, the needs of the community. Additional areas of specialization include crafting research-based positive youth development programs, process and change management, capacity building, curriculum development, organizational assessment, and formulating performance management systems. A member of the Association of Professional Fundraising, the Association of Women in International Development and the National Career Development Association, Davis-DeFoe has authored grants for human service agencies and educational institutions totaling over $10 million. She is a nationally certified Global Career Development Facilitator Instructor, and a nationally certified Workforce Development Professional.
Philip Dickey,
BSW, has 15 years
experience in the human services arena and has held positions from
direct service provision to executive management.
He has worked for both not-for-profit entities and state government – previously having served as the Substance Abuse Services Director for the Department of Children and Families in Broward County, Florida. Philip has extensive experience in grant writing, grants management and has been a grant reviewer at state and local levels. He has been recognized by the Florida Office of Drug Control for his contributions to the field of substance abuse prevention and former First Lady of Florida, Columba Bush. He is a past recipient of Broward County Spirit of Life Award and Broward County’s National Recovery Month Lifetime Achievement Award. Philip has has brought in more than $7 million to the agencies for which he has written proposals. In addition to his experience in the area of grants, Philip has experience in program planning and implementation; outcome measure establishment; quality improvement and assurance; and collaborative partnership building. He has been an invited presenter at several statewide conferences and has conducted numerous community provider workshops and trainings.
